Our History
In 1904 The Johnson family immigrated to the east central part of Saskatchewan in search of their place to settle and raise up their family. Andrew P Johnson was a Pastor and investor who played a part in building the Swedish country church (later call the Evangelical covenant Church) . He was also active in building the Elbow lake country school. While all of this was going on, his sons one of which was our Great grand father Oscar; Oscar was involved in the agricultural movement in the area which was the primary economy and continues to be to this day. As Oscar’s health failed he passed the farm down to his young son Reuben who built a dairy farm mixed with grain until switching to beef cattle and grain till the 80’s and 90’s. Reuben farmed with our Dad David for nearly 30 years and in 1998 the farm converted solely to a grain operation. Andy and Tim Joined there dad David full time around 1998. Dan Joined them in the spring of 2003. David and Reuben had built the farm to 1000+ acres until the brothers expressed interest in joining the farm which was expanded to 3000+ acres by the year 2000. As more elderly neighbors retired from the country side it presented opportunities for the brothers to grow the farm and by the year 2008 the farm reached 5000 acres. We are now bringing the 6th generation into the farm and have grown to 11000+ acres. As a generational farm we recognize how great it is to have a Legacy such as ours and must do our best to be good stewards of this legacy.
